Trial Experienced.
I have testified in dozens of defamation cases.
I have been hired as an expert witness in dozens of cases centered on issues involving the internet. Many of those cases have involved defamation, but I have also worked on litigation involving trademark infringement, web analytics, domain names, mobile apps, advertising technology, patents, search engine optimization, blogging, social media, and more.
I have testified in approximately 30 depositions, and I have written even more expert reports. I have also written some affidavits and declarations.
I have testified in three state trials, four federal trials, and one foreign court trial. I have also testified in an academic tenure hearing for a university.
I review case materials, research issues, analyze the facts, and develop opinions on my own — I generally do not work with others to produce my expert reports. On a few occasions, I have worked with other analysts or technical developers to extract volumes of data.
I have a unique background that has particularly prepared me to serve as a defamation expert witness. To learn more about that, read about my Online Reputation Management expertise.
One of the most challenging issues with defamation litigation is how to obtain sufficiently substantial damage awards to punish defamers, make up for suffering and career/business losses, and to cost harassers enough to deter them from further defamation. Read about a few defamation award models I have developed.
